Finally had time to make fanart for one of my favorite manga series ^_^ I love Ancient Magus Bride so much! I wanted to focus on the relationship between Chise and Elias and layer in visual overtones of both Beauty and the Beast and Persephone and Hades. I love how the comic draws so much from myth and folklore and I wanted to do a little bit of that myself!
I usually set my art in spring or bright daylight settings and it was a fun challenge learning to work with autumn colors (they’re my secret favorite in real life, go figure!). I spent a while google image searching forests and woods in the UK for inspiration and for starting colors to work with.
