Monthly drawterry illustration for June. Prompts used: birdcage, lace, newspaper

Sometimes I know right away what I want to draw for our monthly challenge and sometimes it takes me a few tries. In this case I originally set out to do a clockwork peacock in a lacy roccoco robe and as I started sketching him out and playing with compositions it gradually evolved into a humble little fairy rescuing her prince from a bird cage prison.

I like to imagine the prince was captured by a wizard who intended to use him for a spell ingredient and the wizard is asleep in a plush easy chair somewhere out of frame.

It’s been way too long since I used my brushpen for a piece like this, I missed it 🙂
