I love the film Annihilation and when I painted these I was also reading my way through the book series at a frantic horrified clip. I wanted to do something with the biologist engulfed by the glow for the very shallow reason that I thought it might be pretty to capture in watercolor. I do like how it turned out, and would be into maybe trying a more serious version of this concept down the line? Putting a pin in this idea for sure.
Then, of course, because the prompt was “just mess me up” please enjoy the bear that screams with the voice of a woman and a plant with the DNA of a human, two of the more recognizable nightmares that will live rent free in my head forever XD
