August’s Bird Whisperer bird is the Pompadour Cotinga
This was my first time encountering this bird and I loved how vibrant his plumage was. Something about the pose gave me a little bit of side-eye and as I started drawing him he developed 100% sass by bodyweight.
I had a pen malfunction part way through inking the bird and I ended up losing a lot of my normal finesse in the struggle just to get inks on the page. But to balance out that limitation I ended up really focusing in on the background and, on the bright side, I think the background turned out quite lovely.
