FF9 won the art poll last month! It’s one of my favorite videogames of all time and I was SO excited to dive back into my happy memories to paint some wee little fairy tale warriors.
I was surprised on revisiting these designs just how strongly this game must have influenced my aesthetic. I’ve never been part of the Final Fantasy fandom and I think I’ve only drawn fanart like 3 times in my life, but bam, these colors and silhouettes fit with my style like a glove. I love discovering things like that in hindsight 🙂
My new mission is convincing my wife to play this game on Steam so I can 100% re-experience it, will report back if I succeed (with fanart).
