adaptation of Brother & Sister that I did for the Erstwhile anthology. Sequel piece to the Svetla and Allerleirauh paintings posted previously 🙂
I liked working with a warmer, brighter palette for this piece. I naturally gravitate to the imagery associated with the part of the story where brother and sister live alone in the forest, so the broom, the talking brook, the garter, and the forest were the heart of the border for me.
I love how warm and buttery her skirt looks here, it’s a shading technique I’ll want to try again in the future 🙂
